Shooting seniors makes my heart happy. Like REALLY happy. I wish it was something I could do all year long, but I know it’s a short summer season each year, so I try and make the most of it.
Shooting seniors starts early in the day and goes until about noon when the sun is so high in the sky, we sneak away for a break from the sun that warms our skin to go grab a coffee or shoot under the shade of the downtown historic buildings. Each session takes so much preparation and thought, it’s fun to share the excitement with each one of them.
From questionnaires to personalities and outfits, I try and make each KV Senior feel like a million bucks for a day. I mean, when else can you get dolled up with your besties, in your favorite outfits, and have a personal photographer follow you around?!
What I love about seniors is their contagious energy. They’re happy. They’re hopeful. They give me so much life. I feel like friends by the time we meet for the shoot, then I get smile and clap as they walk across the stage to get their diploma. It’s such an awesome journey to watch them grow into adults in just a few short months. They have the whole world at their feet, and I am so thankful that I can capture just a glimpse of that excitement for them during their senior year.
Cheers to these 2021 graduates! I am so proud and thankful for each and every one of you!
