Best of 2019: WEDDINGS

Wedding

December 18, 2019

Shooting weddings will always have a special place in my heart. When I was a senior in high school, I asked a local photographer if I could come to a wedding with her. Bless her heart. She said yes! Little did she (or I for that matter) know that she would be the first person to trust and believe in me enough to give me such a monumental opportunity in my career. If you’re reading this, Ruth–I thank you for all that you have taught me!

I’m not sure why I love shooting weddings so much. Part of me thinks that I just love all of the beauty in wedding days, but I’ve come to realize it is so much more.

Weddings Are Life-Changing

It’s quite literally one of the most important days of your life. I would argue that it IS the most important day of your life. You are choosing to spend your entire life with just ONE other person–forever. Think about it! That’s incredible! Who wouldn’t want to be there to witness this and cheer you guys on?! It’s such an intimate and incredible experience to walk alongside the bride from the moment the make up goes on and she slips into her wedding gown, until the end of the day where you see her wrapped in the arms of the man she loves. I get goosebumps just writing that. As a photographer, weddings are full of raw emotion which is incredibly neat to document.

Weddings Are New Beginnings

It is incredible how weddings can renew old friendships, mend broken fences, and bring together people who haven’t seen each other in years. I can’t tell you how many times I have seen families reunite, hug, and share their love on a wedding day–all of which was a surprise to others or something they have longed for for years. Not only are two families becoming one BIG family, but they are bonding together to become strong supporters for the new bride and groom. It’s truly heart-warming to witness. A wedding serves as a new beginning for not only for the bride and groom, but for their families and guests as well!

Weddings Are a Celebration

There’s not a lot of life moments that big enough to celebrate with your future spouse and your 200 closest friends. Weddings are a time of celebration and the fact that you can do it with all of your family AND your friends in one place is the best part! You have to stop and take in the magnitude of the celebration while at a wedding. What other time do that many people come and actually celebrate something so meaningful to you? These milestones don’t just happen every day!

Here’s the best of my 2020 weddings!!
