Good things come to those who wait. That saying couldn’t be any more true for Chris and Madi. Not only have they been together for four years before their wedding day, but they also had quite the week leading up to their special day. Only days before their wedding, a man shooting tannerite targets started an accidental wildfire very close to their wedding venue. Over a million dollars in air support and 5,000 burned acres later…these two were forced to decide whether or not they were going to have to cancel their beautiful Summer Star Ranch Wedding and relocate, or to wait it out.
Well, the picture above never would have happened if these two had decided to change venues. Just one day before the wedding, the amazing fire crews, rescue teams, pilots, county deputies, and many more were able to put the fire out and lift the evacuation order that allowed guests to get to their stunning venue. Nestled among sage brush and pine trees, Chris and Madi soaked in the last of the 90 degree sun rays that blanketed the valley. It couldn’t have been a better ending to a wedding day. They waited for their perfect day to turn out just like they imagined, and God blessed them ten-fold. God is so good!!
I know I say it every wedding I do, but they seriously get better and better. I am so blessed and fortunate to have an amazing outlet to meet the most fantastic people. Sometimes I imagine my life without photography and think of what it would be like. I can seriously say that it makes my heart a little sad. I just think of the hundreds of people I have met with my trusty camera. From custodians to governors, from brides to babies…it’s unreal. I thank God every day that he can use me in a way to reach people. If I don’t leave anything else on this earth during my life, I hope made differences in other’s lives by creating art for them so they can remember theirs.
Madi and Chris are great examples of this. Would I have ever met them if I hadn’t been a photographer in their town? Probably not. It’s times like these that I smile while going to bed after a long wedding day, because God’s plan is so much bigger than my own. So much bigger.
Much love you two!! Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Peterson!
Let’s show some vendors some love!
