There’s something extra special about photographing couples who are not only wildly in love, but also completely up for an adventure—and Carlee and Marcus were exactly that. They drove all the way up from Utah and while they were in town we got to shoot their engagement session!
Montana decided to greet them with one of its classic winter curveballs: wind. The kind that makes you laugh one second and reach for your coat the next. The sky was dramatic, the air crisp, and the forecast hinted at a storm rolling in later that evening. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that a little wind can add magic to a session—and Carlee and Marcus embraced every second of it.
Between gusts of wind and bursts of laughter, they held each other close, brushed windblown hair out of each other’s faces, and snuggled up together to stay warm!
What made this session even more meaningful is their history. Carlee and Marcus have loved each other for four years—four years of growing together, supporting one another, and building a foundation that’s so clearly rooted in friendship. You can see it in the way Marcus looks at Carlee, like he still can’t believe he gets to marry her. And you can feel it in the way Carlee leans into him, completely at home in his arms.
As the wind picked up and the clouds began to thicken, we kept an eye on the horizon. Montana weather waits for no one. But somehow, everything aligned perfectly. We wrapped up their session just before the first signs of the incoming storm crept across the sky. Watch the clouds change as the shoot ended! It felt like we had borrowed a small window of calm in the middle of a wild week of weather—and they made the absolute most of it.
Carlee and Marcus, thank you for making the drive, for trusting me with your memories, and for bringing so much warmth to a chilly Montana afternoon. Your love is steady, joyful, and so genuine. If the past four years are any indication, your future together is going to be full of laughter and lots of adventure!
Can’t wait for your June wedding!!
