Sunset Fall Engagement Session: Helena, MT

Engagement

October 1, 2024

Ah, fall! That magical time of year when the leaves change into a showcase of colors, the air turns crisp, and photographers everywhere dive headfirst into the whirlwind of the end of their wedding season, plus the beginning of their busy engagement & family season. It’s a beautiful chaos—while our calendars overflow with sessions, our hearts brim with joy. Each frame we capture is a blend of artistry and emotion, and somehow, amid the hustle, we find our groove. We always do!

Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Sarah and Marcus, a couple so full of life that they could light up even the dreariest autumn day. Our adventure began in the woods at the base of the Continental Divide, where the golden aspens whispered in the gentle breeze. The scenery was nothing short of spectacular. I was in awe as we drove up the ravine…drooling at every colorful scene.

Let’s be honest, sometimes in the thick of editing (hello, late nights and countless coffee cups!), it’s easy to forget why I fell in love with photography in the first place. But moments like this remind me: it’s about the connection, the celebration of love, and the sheer joy of being in nature with people who are about to start a new chapter together.

After soaking in the beauty of the woods, we hopped back in the car and headed towards town for our second location. Let’s just say…I may have broken the speed limit a few times chasing the light back to town…haha.

Arriving at our next spot—a quaint little park nestled by a state park—we decided it was time to celebrate. Out came the champagne! As the cork shot into the sky, we all burst into laughter. This was the moment to revel in their love and the journey ahead. It’s not every day you get to celebrate a couple’s engagement while popping bubbly at sunset!

Despite the editing pile that awaited me at home, I left Sarah and Marcus’ session with a full heart. Those moments reminded me that, yes, I’m deep in the busy season, and sometimes it feels like I’m drowning in my to-do list, but then there are days like this, when I remember why I do what I do.

So, fellow photographers, as we navigate the busyness of fall, let’s remember to savor those moments. Whether you’re stuck behind a computer screen or out in the field, the heart of photography is all about connection. So raise a glass, celebrate the chaos, and keep creating magic. Cheers to love, laughter, and the beauty that surrounds us! We can do this!
