I finally got to meet up with Emily and Hunter for their engagement shoot—and let me just say, it was so worth the wait! We met at Carroll College, the very place where their story began years ago, and it felt extra special capturing their love in a spot that holds so many memories for them.
We had originally planned to shoot in June, but their first date with me got completely stormed out (classic Montana summer, right?). Luckily, we got the most perfect summer evening this time around—warm light, no wind, and that soft golden glow that photographers dream about.
Emily and I instantly bonded over our shared love for teaching—she’s a rockstar special education teacher, and I’m also in the elementary school world, so we definitely talked shop! Hunter is currently in grad school at Carroll studying social work, which just made me admire them both even more. These two are such a power couple—hardworking, compassionate, and just genuinely kind people.
Being able to take these engagement photos for them was such a joy. We laughed a ton, chased the light around campus, and I honestly left feeling so inspired and grateful to know them. It’s sessions like these that remind me why I love what I do.
I’m already counting down the days until their July wedding next year—it’s going to be such a beautiful celebration, and I know it’ll be filled with the same kind of love and joy they brought to this shoot.
Emily and Hunter, thanks for trusting me with your memories. Thanks for letting me tag along with you last week!
